Our Misson
Kennebec Dance Centre (KDC) is a dance school in Augusta, Maine that offers professional instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater, and hip hop for children and adults of all ages and levels of experience in our state-of-the-art facility. At KDC, we help students discover a passion for the art of dance and provide them with the skills they need to thrive in all dance environments. Our experienced dance educators are qualified to prepare students for collegiate and professional dance careers. We also warmly welcome recreational dancers looking for a fun fitness activity in a positive and empowering environment.
KDC is owned and operated by Renée Black and her husband, Jason Black.
Our Facility
KDC’s beautiful dance facility consists of three spacious studios with professionally handcrafted sprung-floor systems designed with an inner layer of high-density foam to reduce impact and prevent injuries. The floors are covered with high-quality vinyl dance flooring, or marley. Each studio features wall-mounted ballet barres and twelve-foot mirrors.

Operation
KDC is open year round. Our primary season occurs during the school year (September-May), followed by robust master class and summer dance program offerings throughout the summer months (June-August). KDC provides dancers the opportunity to participate in three large seasonal performances each year: fall, winter, and spring. There are also several smaller, community-based performance opportunities that dancers may participate in as well. We strongly encourage our dancers to contribute to their community and to share their gifts with others to spread joy though the art of dance.
