MacKenzie Lewis: Kennebec Dance Centre, Class of 2018

At KDC, we are so proud of all of our dancers: past, present, and future. We enjoy staying connected with our alumni, learning about their journey, and hearing about how Kennebec Dance Centre may have helped them prepare for their future. Here is what one of our KDC graduates shared about their dance journey after graduating from high school.

Q: What collegiate dance activities are you partaking in?

A: I am minoring in dance and am on the UMaine Dance Team.                    

 

Q: How did your time at KDC prepare you for the future?

A: KDC gave me the confidence and technique I needed to be successful while dancing in college.

 

Q: What are some of your recent dance-related opportunities or experiences?

A: I am taking several dance classes at UMaine, am involved in dance clubs, on the Dance Team, a dance minor, and I am president of the tap club.

 

Q:What were some of your favorite things about KDC?

A: My favorite thing about KDC was how welcoming everyone was and how it was like a big family! I created so many friendships that I will hold onto forever.

 

Q: What would you say to someone debating whether or not KDC is right for them?

A: For anyone debating on going to KDC or not, my advice to them would be to take a leap. Go into a class and you will see how amazing it is. The staff is so wonderful and they always know how to push you in the best ways!

Q: What is one of your favorite memories from your time at KDC?

A: One of my favorite memories at KDC was all the performances. Being backstage with everyone, practicing, laughing, and sharing our love for dance is something irreplaceable. 

 

Q: Why do you love dancing?

A: I love dancing because it is my outlet. With whatever I have going on in my life, I can go to the studio and just let it all go. It is a feeling like no other and something I am so fortunate to have. Dance has given me the confidence, self-discipline, pride, and friends that I will have for the rest of my life!
